Sixty minutes just isn't enough time to cover all the great things you can do with your students online! Here are a few more ideas.
Curate the News You Want
Paper.li is a program that allows you to enter keywords and search terms for the news topics that interest you most. It then crawls through the web to gather news articles that are then delivered as a virtual, personal magazine to your email.
Create YouTube Playlists
Instructors can create playlists to share with students or to save for later use. Students can manage their own learning by creating their own playlists with tutorials that help them prepare for subjects on the TASC test.
Record Video on Google Hangouts OnAir
Google Hangouts allows up to ten individuals (more with a paid account) to video conference together with screensharing capabilities. Google Hangouts OnAir allows users to record video sessions. Instructors can record lessons. Students can record themselves, which could help an ELL student work on pronunciation or a student preparing for an interview to self-critique during a mock interview.
Provide Formative Assessments with Google Forms
Google Forms, with a free plugin called Flubaroo, offers teachers the ability to create assessments for their students with immediate feedback. Questions that students miss are highlighted in red and questions that 60% of the group or more miss are highlighted in orange.
Digital Portfolios for Students
Google Drive is a great place for students to save a digital portfolio of their certificates and licenses. Certificates can be uploaded and saved into Drive, while a Doc can be created to highlight and link to the certifications.
